Plantar Fasciitis |
|
|
|
DESCRIPTION:
PLANTAR FASCIITIS refers to the pain on the bottom of the heel that extends along the foot commonly involving the arch. There is often pain in the morning when first getting out of bed. Active Release Technique protocols can quickly resolve this condition.
- My name is Sue and I love to golf, especially if I can walk the courses. A couple of years ago I started having foot problems, which were, diagnosed as plantar fascia by a podiatrist. He gave me a cortisone shot, but it did not relieve the pain. Then I developed heel pain and walking became a real problem. I was going up and down stairs one foot at a time and began riding a cart to play golf. That was when I knew something had to be done. Golf was not enjoyable anymore.
So I went to an orthopedic doctor to see what could be done. He gave me some anti-inflammatory pills, which I took for two weeks, but to no avail. The follow-up appointment was even worse. The doctor said he could give me exercises to stretch out the tendons and ligaments or he could do surgery and splint the foot for awhile, but the surgery would be only a 50% chance of success. I went home kind of at a loss. Luckily, the LEADER newspaper that week had an article about Dr. Kaminski and his treatment for soft tissue problems like carpal tunnel and other areas that take a lot of abuse (like my feet).
I checked the web site offered in the article on A.R.T. and figured it was better to try this than surgery that might not work anyway. So I called for an appointment. This was one of the smartest things I have ever done in my life. I walked out after the first treatment with no heel pain. It took several treatments to find the real culprit (it was closed to the knee than the foot), but it disappeared and so far has not returned. I have absolutely no foot problems and best of all; I can enjoy golf again while walking the courses!
Thanks Dr. K. You're the best!
P.S. He also keeps my back, neck and shoulders nice and loose through regular chiropractic treatments, which also help the golf game. If your game needs a little help, I highly recommend giving Dr. Kaminski a try. We golfers will try anything to shave a few strokes, thank goodness.
